Lot 601

Lot Description

An Edwardian silver vesta case of slightly curved oblong form, bright cut engraved with foliate scrolls and with a raised and gilded monogram to the front, hallmarked Joseph Gloster, Birmingham 1902. Together with a further Edwardian vesta case decorated with leaf motifs, hallmarked Smith & Bartlam, Birmingham 1909, and a 1920's vesta case, also decorated with foliate scrolls, hallmarked Birmingham 1925.  Gross combined weight 1.98 ozt (61.8 grams). (3).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

All the cases appear in fairly good condition, displaying general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with their age and use.  Heavier wear around the edges and corners of all three, also some small nicks and dints and heavier scratches visible.  There is considerable loss of detail and definition to the leaf decoration on the 1909 case.  The decoration on the other cases is still fairly bright.  All the hinges are in working order.  The hallmarks appear rubbed in places but are still legible.
