Lot Description

A pair of Victorian silver open salts, each of circular form with crimped rim above a band of flower head and foliate motifs and other decorative borders, and standing on three ball feet, hallmarked Hirons & Plante, Birmingham 1887.  Together with a further Victorian pair of open salts, hallmarked James Wakely & Frank Clarke Wheeler, London 1900, a Victorian pepper pot and an Edwardian open salt, hallmarked London 1898 and 1901 respectively.  Total weight 6 ozt(187.7 grams).

All the pieces display general surface scratches, marks and wear commensurate with their age and use.  Heavier tarnishing is visible to some and they would all benefit from a clean and polish.  Some dints, bumps and creases in the metal are visible, also impressions from some of the feet.  Some rubbing and partial distortion but the hallmarks are all still legible.
