Lot Description
A Victorian silver lidded vessel of plain tapered form, crested body and ivory insulated scrolling handle. Hallmarked London 1842, with the maker's mark 1842. Height measuring 5 1/4 inches (13.5 cm), weight 9.65 ozt (300 grams).
The engraved crest depicts an arm holding a branch of oak with acorns, similar to that of the Rhodes family.

Condition Report
The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The hinge allows a little sideways movement the top segment of the handle above the insulators is also loose. Hallmarks to the body appear a little rubbed but clearly legible, matching corresponding part hallmarks visible to the handle and lid.
