An early 20th century silver and gold, diamond and gem-set wasp brooch. The cushion-shape ruby thorax and marquise-shape opal abdomen, to the rose-cut diamond wings and eyes, with textured feelers and legs. Length 4.5cms. Weight 8.1gms.

Condition Report
The lot is in good overall condition with light scratches in keeping with general wear. Replacement fittings. Probable small repairs. Opal probable replacement gem. Ruby is a medium deep slightly purplish red hue, eye visible inclusions including reflective broken silk-type inclusions. Moderate abrasion. The diamonds appear relatively bright and well matched, estimated total diamond spread weight 0.90ct, which is no indication of the total diamond weight. Individual diamonds too small to accurately assess colour/clarity grades.
