Lot Description

A fine Japanese Meiji period ivory and lacquer figure of a geisha or bijin.
Her hair stylishly modelled with top-knot and ribbons, dressed in a red-lined black lacquer kimono with gilt takamaki-e, her arms outstretched and holding a miniature puppet geisha dressed in lilac kimono, apparently unsigned, 7.75", (19.8cm) high, raised upon a hardwood base, 8.75", (22.2cm) high overall.
