A good mid 18th century mahogany veneered twin fusee bracket clock of small proportions,
Stephen Rimbault, London, (fl. 1744-88)
The 5-inch break arched brass dial having a silvered chapter ring with Roman hours and Arabic minutes, framing a matted centre with mock pendulum aperture over silvered axe head cartouche, signed 'Step'n Rimbault London' in turn above a calendar square, within foliate scroll spandrels, the arch with silver Strike/Silent ring, the knopped five pillar movement having a verge escapement with crown wheel over gut driven twin fusee mechanism, with pull repeat lever, the back plate engraved with foliage, the case having an ogee caddy top with later handle over urn finials and moulded cornice, the caddy moulded door (now missing spandrels) over break arched glazing and moulded frame, 14" (35.5cm) high excluding handle.

Condition Report
Dial- Some minor rubbing and tarnishing to chapter ring, later steel moon hands. Movement- appears in good original order with no significant alterations, pull repeat cord missing. Case- Offset later handle, finials possibly assocciated, missing escutcheon, may have had brass feet, and one foot depleated, sides and rear door are glazed likely replacing pieced metal frets.
