Lot Description

A late Victorian silver locket, of oval outline, with engraved and raised rural scene with tree, fence and golden bird in flight. Personal engraving to reverse. Hallmarks for Birmingham, 1880. Length 7.4cms. Weight 28.6gms.

The lot is in good overall condition with light scratches in keeping with general wear. Personal engraving "A parting gift, from Friends at Whickham, To Miss M.A. Reed. 1882." Inside shows two glazed panels with photographs of a man and a woman, womans photograph mostly covered by a lock of hair. Both glazed panels cracked. Length includes tapered loop and detachable spring ring. Length of locket including only surmount 6.6cms. Length of locket excluding surmount 4.7cms.
