Two fine quality Japanese Meiji period satsuma miniature vases, the first of bulbous form with gilt fish handles, the body decorated with two panels, one with female figures, the other samurai, satsuma mon plus nine character 'seal' mark beneath, 3.25" (8.2cm) high, and a similar two-handled ovoid vase with flared with having internal decoration of butterflies plus fragmentary paper label, over pierced gilt handles, a panel of bijin seated around a vase, and a panel of figures at a fence, 3.75" (9.5cm) high, both vases with gilt speckled sky, each reserved on a complex polychrome segmented ground, probably Kyoto school.
