A mid 18th century 8-day brass dial lacquer longcase clock.
George Burgis (Burgess), London, circa 1730-40
The 12-inch square dial with Roman hours, Arabic minutes, fleur-de-lis half hour divisions and inner quarter hour track, the matted centre with subsidiary seconds ring at 12, over canted signature cartouche “George Burgis LONDON”, within baroque urn spandrels, the knopped five-pillar movement rack-striking on a bell, the case with stepped hood (A/F) over break-arched long trunk door with chinoiserie relief decoration, on conforming base and plinth, 82”, (208.5cm) high.

Condition Report
Dial- very good condition, later pin through hands. Movement- good untouched condition (may need clean). Case- later hood, fire damage, bubbled lacquer cracks and widening of joints to trunk. Lacquer a bit dull but nice to door, faded to base.
