An early 20th century gold opal, split pearl and demantoid garnet insect brooch. Designed as two flys, each with an opal body, split pearls wings and demantoid garnet accents, to the knife edge bar. Length 4.5cms. Weight 4.3gms.

Condition Report
Overall condition good to fair. Surface scratches and slight patches of discolouration in keeping with general wear and age. The pin is a different colour of gold and may be a different fineness. The opals are well matched with a white body colour and fair play-of-colour showing a mix of blue and orange tones. The split pearls have a well matched creamy colour with muted lustre and fairly good skins some show slight cracks. The demantoid garnet have a vivid and bright green with good clarity, one has a significant chip.
