Great War Military Medal Group, Military Medal, 1914-15 Star, British War Medal 1914-20, Victory Medal, named to '9520 Pte R. Webster. S.Staff: R.' complete with identity tag, South Staffordshire Regiment badge, post card photograph of the recipient and various transcripts to include treatment card, discharge certificate, certificate of identity and a letter written to the recipients mother when Webster was hit by a German Sniper in the right arm during the course of a tour in the front line trench. <p>
Conferment of the Military Medal is listed in the second supplement to the London Gazette of Friday the 20th of October, 1916. <p>
The transcripts included in the lot detail that Ralph Webster of Walsall, enlisted in 1914 with the South Staffordshire Regiment. The letter documents that in January 1918 Webster was hit by a German Sniper in the right arm during the course of a tour in the front line trench. Webster was discharged in September 1920, listed as being no longer physically fit for war service, and his right arm amputated. Webster's discharge certificate lists his rank as Lance Sergeant and confirms his medal entitlements, also noting three wound stripes, chevrons, one red, two blue.
