Lot 111

Lot Description

A Victorian silver cream jug, having a shaped rim above a bulbous lower body and floral, foliate and scroll embossing surrounding a crested cartouche, the whole with scrolled handle and standing on three feet, also with scroll decoration, engraved dedication monograms to the underside and date '1852'. Hallmarked Daniel & Charles Houle, London 1851. Height including handle measures 5 1/2 inches (14 cm), weight 6.44 ozt (200.4 grams).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The cream jug appears in fair to good overall condition, displaying general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.  Some slight dints and slight loss of surface detail to some of the decoration, and also to the crest.  Heavier contact marks to the interior.  Slight knocks to the feet.  The hallmarks and maker's mark appear a little rubbed slightly distorted in places but are still legible.
