Lot 29

Lot Description

A pair of Victorian silver open salts, the cylindrical body of scroll pierced open-work form, blue glass liner and raised on three claw and ball feet. Hallmarked Henry Holland (of Holland, Aldwinckle & Slater), London 1858.  Height measuring 2 inches (5 cm), gross silver weight 4.2 ozt (133 grams).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.

Heavy polishing with some loss of definition. A couple of cracks to the rim. Chips to the edge of the liners. Some heavy spots of tarnishing and discolouration. Hallmarks rubbed but legible. The liners are perhaps replacements, although of age, they appear a tad too small.
