Lot Description
An Art Deco style silver mounted inkwell, of plain triangular form with canted corners, the hinged lid of conforming shape and opening to a circular well (liner deficient), weighted base. Hallmarked Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co Ltd., London 1938, also with impressed maker's name and address. Maximum length measuring 7 1/4 inches (18.5 cm).

Condition Report
The inkwell appears in fair overall condition displaying general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Heavier marks and scratches visible to some areas, also some slight surface dints. Heavier wear and dints around the base rim and corners and some minor splits starting to appear. Hinged lid appears in working order, there is a slight overhang when in the closed position but it is struck with corresponding hallmarks. Missing liner. Likely replacement baize to underside. The hallmarks are clear and legible, maker's mark partly worn but still legible.
