Lot Description

A George III silver milk jug, of part lobed bulbous form with gadrooned rim and angular handle, engraved with a floral and foliate band above a vacant cartouche with a further foliate border, the whole raised above four ball feet. Hallmarked London 1813, maker's mark partly distorted but likely Thomas James. Height including handle measures 3 3/4 inches (9.5 cm), weight 5.88 ozt (183 grams).

The jug displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.  Some dints and bumps to the main body.  Slight loss of detail to the engraved decoration.  It wobbles a little when standing.  The hallmarks are quite rubbed and partly distorted, especially the date letter and maker's mark.
