Lot Description
A late Victorian silver playing card case, modelled as a carriage and decorated with floral and foliate scroll motifs surrounding vacant panels and against a diaper pattern and stippled ground, the domed lid opening to an interior with central dividing bar to hold two sets of cards. Hallmarked Samuel Jacob, London 1900. Maximum height measures 3 1/2 inches (9 cm), weight 4.82 ozt (150 grams).

Condition Report
The case displays some general wear including surface scratches, marks and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Heavier scratches and little nicks to some areas, also some slight dints and knocks, including some to rims of the hinged lid and main body. Hinged lid and clasp appear in working order, possible repair to one of the hinges. Heavier contact marks to the underside, slight loss of surface detail to some of the decoration. The hallmarks are clear and legible, corresponding part hallmarks to lid.
