Lot Description

A Georgian III silver wine funnel, of typical form with part lobed decoration, the removable strainer with gadroon rim and simple drilled piercing. Hallmarked London, 1789 or 1809, maker's mark not visible. Maximum length measures 5 1/4 inches (13.5 cm), gross weight 3.8 ozt (118.3 grams).

The lot displays general scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Significant damage, holes and previous solder repairs to the spout of the funnel. Hallmarks extremely rubbed to the funnel, part hallmarks also rubbed to the sieve. Split to the opening of the spout. No visible personal engravings. Numerous minor dents.
