A dated early 1930s Italian Lenci ceramic vase
'Vaso cani-uccelli' (Dogs and Birds vase), model 118, Mario Sturani
The tapering cylindrical neck with yellow rim, the spherical body having relief moulded brightly-coloured decoration of dogs and birds between trees, on broadening stem and disc foot with yellow border, inscribed beneath 'Lenci MADE IN ITALY 2-4-31', 12.6", (32cm) high, (s/d)
Provenance:
By repute, imported by entrepreneur and inventor Harry Burrows of Manchester in the 1930s. Bequeathed to the mother of the current owner, and thence by descent.
