Lot 116
Lot Description
OMEGA - a gentleman's Museum Collection Limited Re-edition Tonneau Renverse wrist watch. Reference 81645127. Number 0287/1952. Signed automatic calibre 2202. Silvered dial with gilt hour markers, subsidiary seconds dial to six. 18ct bi-metal case fitted to an authentic alligator strap with 18ct white gold pin buckle. 34mm. Box and papers.
Omega’s Museum Collection showcases watch designs from the brand’s extensive back catalogue, all of them at least 50 years old. The ‘Tonneau Renverse’ is a case shape from 1952 and shows its barrel shape laterally rather than the more usual vertical alignment. It is typical of the bold and exuberant dress watch styles that were popular in the early 1950s with strong geometric forms.
The watch movement is updated to calibre 2202 with a co-axial escapement.
