Knights of the Golden Horn, gold badge for meritorious services, by Fattorini & Sons, in the shape of a shield with two axes, obverse with legend ‘Knights of the Golden Horn’ on blue enamel, rev. engraved ‘ Presented to J.Welford K.O.S. by the No.35 Brancepeth Encampment for meritorious services 1924’, 9ct., wt.5.4g, 30 x 32mm at widest points, extremely fine. Together with a small gold brooch (no pin) in the shape of a shield, possibly for the Knights of the Golden Horn, 16x9mm approx, 9ct., 0.9g, very fine. (2).
The Knights of the Golden Horn grew out of the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes and was principally a Northern organisation whose Lodges were called encampments.
