Lot Description

A pair case pocket watch by John Portall. Hallmarked London 1811. Signed key wind fusee and chain movement with verge escapement and pierced balance cock. White enamel dial with Roman numeral hour markers. Silver case. 45mm. Outer case missing.

<li> Silver verge fusee movement is currently not functioning or keeping time.

<li> Movement appears to be heavily scratched with light pitting and signs of rusting and tarnishing.

<li> Screws to the movement show heavy tarnishing, light rusting and small scuffs and chips to several of them.

<li> Dial seems to be discoloured, particularly around the centre, with light pitting across the surface. A small amount of loose debris is present within the dial.

<li> Hour hand is missing. Minute hand is heavily scuffed and tarnished and bent downwards.

<li> Glass has been replaced with plastic, which bears multiple light and medium scuffs and scratches with several distinct chips.

<li> Crown appears to show heavy tarnishing and scratches.

<li> Case front shows multiple medium scratches and scuffs with a large scratch below the six and seven and areas of tarnishing and small chips around the edge of the case.

<li> Case back has heavy pitting and tarnishing with small dents.

<li> Pendant currently displays heavy scratches and tarnishing with several chips.

<li> Pendant bow is heavily scratched and tarnished with clear pitting and dents.

<li> This watch does not come with a box or papers.
