A fine large pair of early 20th century Chinese carved ivory figures, probably depicting the Emperor Qianlong (1711-1799) and one of his spouses, perhaps Empress Xiaoyichun, he with tall tapering hat, bead necklace, finely worked robes and holding a sword, with Chinese characters detailing 'Great Qing Qianlong', she with elaborate top-knot, holding a ruyi sceptre and tassels, the smaller 14" (36cm) high, each upon pierced circular hardwood stand.
