Lot Description

A good 18th/early 19th century 'Grand Tour' bronze figure group, depicting Proserpina by Pluto, beside heeled Cerberus, on naturalistic base, erroneously attributed with pseudo signature in the cast verso, 'Giambologna, M.B.', 11" (28cm) high. The original by Gian Lorenzo Bernini (not Giambologna) was commissioned by Cardinal Scipione Borghese and resides in The Galleria Borghese, Rome.
