Lot Description
A late Victorian 15ct gold coral and split pearl locket, circa 1890. Designed as a circular coral cabochon and split pearl foliate line, with rope-twist panel sides, diagonally set to the oval-shape locket and tapered surmount. Length 5.8cms. Weight 26.5gms.

Condition Report
The lot is in good overall condition with light scratches and minor discolouration in keeping with general wear. Some slightly deeper scratches. The locket closes securely but not tightly, with a small gap showing along the seam. Please see important notices for purchasers in the catalogue and on our website for Coloured Gemstones. Coral untested for natural colour origin. The coral is a moderately well matched, slightly mottled pale orangey pink hue. Few polyp holes, moderate abrasion. Slight discolouration to the split pearls. Length of oval-shape panel 4.2cms.
