Lot 20

Lot Description

A George III silver saucepan, plain circular form above a footed base with engraved family crest and turned wood handle, the lid with gadroon rim, repeated crest engraving and circular wood finial. Hallmarked William Eaton, London 1819. Height inclusive of handle measures 7 1/8 inches (18.1 cm), gross weight 19.06 ozt (592.8 grams).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The saucepan displays general surface scratches, marks and wear commensurate with the age and use. Heavy tarnishing to some areas, especially the underside, and it would benefit from a clean and polish. Some dints and bumps. Knock to the foot rim so that it is pushed up slightly on one side and now wobbles a little. The wood section of the handle is a little loose. Split through the wood finial of the lid. The flange of the lid is slightly misshapen in places so it does not sit quite flush to the pan. The hallmarks are clear and legible, also with matching part hallmarks to lid.
