Lot Description

A pair of George III silver sugar tongs with bright cut engraving, monogrammed, hallmarked Peter & Ann Bateman, London 1791. Together with a 1930's monogrammed compact, a single napkin ring, a combination propelling pen and pencil and a pill box. Gross weight 8.24 ozt (256.2 grams). (5).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Tongs with significant discolouration. Napkin ring with small, general dents. Width 1 inch. Hallmarked James Deakin & Sons, Chester 1911.Compact with deeply engraved 'CJ' monogram to front corner, the inside engraved 'F.E.P. 12.4.40'. Slight wear to gilt interior. Length 3 1/2 inches. Hallmarked W H Manton Ltd, Birmingham 1935. Foliate engraved pen/pencil with foil back gem terminal, deterioration to foil backing. Pill box with engraving and monogram.
