Lot Description

Two George III silver caddy spoons, the first in Fiddle pattern with a teardrop shape bowl, hallmarked Josiah & George Piercy, London 1814, the second of smaller form and hallmarked Edward Lees, London 1806. Together with an Edwardian silver caddy spoon with shell bowl, hallmarked Josiah Williams & Co., London 1902, a slightly later example hallmarked Sheffield 1915 and two further caddy spoons, one struck with the Dutch single sword mark, both with further indistinct marks. Gross weight 71 grams. (6).

Total lot weight: No

In varied state, however all six spoons in the lot display general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with their age and use. The Fiddle pattern Georgian spoon and both the Edwardian and later spoon all appear in fairly good overall condition. The bowl to the smaller Georgian example is quite misshapen and of a thin gage and there are lots of little dints and nicks. Some rubbing but the hallmarks on all four spoons are still legible. No personal engravings visible. The other two spoons are quite tarnished. Repairs and alterations to the shell bowl spoon.
