Lot Description

A small late Victorian silver swing handle dish of shaped circular form, with floral scroll embossing throughout against a pierced diaper pattern, conforming decoration to the handle and to the pierced and splayed feet. Hallmarked Horton & Allday, Birmingham 1894. Maximum diameter measuring 6 inches (15.2 cm), weight 4.47 ozt (139 grams).

The dish appears in fairly good overall condition, displaying some general wear including surface scratches and nicks, contact marks and tarnishing, all commensurate with the age and use. Some small holes in the pierced decoration. Some slight dints. Residues of polish. The swing handle appears in working order and is struck with corresponding part hallmarks. The maker's mark and lion passant are partly worn, otherwise the hallmarks are clear and legible.
