Lot Description

A mid 20th century synthetic sapphire and diamond bar brooch. Designed as a series of oval-shape synthetic sapphires and old-cut diamonds, set at intervals to the knife-edge bar. Estimated total diamond weight 0.40ct, I-J colour, P1 clarity. Length 5.7cms. Weight 3.7gms.

Condition Report

Overall condition good. Minor surface wear in keeping with age/general wear. One side sapphire has finger-print inclusions and is possibly natural in origin. Synthetic sapphires well matched. Medium colour saturation. Fairly good clarity with typical inclusions. Gemstones in good condition with some abrasion. Please see Important Notices for Purchasers in our catalogue or on our website for coloured gemstones. Diamonds fairly bright and well matched. Diamonds assessed within the limits of the mount. Scattered to large inclusions, some visible to the unaided eye. Diamonds in fair condition with some nicks, one with a large v-shape nick to the girdle. Possibly has been rhodium plated. Stamped 9ct Plat.
