Lot Description
MURRLE BENNETT & CO.- an early 20th century 15ct gold opal and split pearl necklace. The pear-shape opal cabochon and split pearl surround, with similarly-set bow and foliate motif surmount, to the later replacement back-chain. Maker's marks for Murrle Bennett & Co. Length 46.5cms. Weight 9gms.

Condition Report
Overall condition good. Minor surface scratches and slight discolouration in keeping with general wear and age. Two dark solder marks can be seen on the chain marking the later replacement chain section, to the bolt ring clasp stamped 15ct. Two split pearls are deficient. The opals are well matched with a white body colour, showing a range of hues and a good play-of-colour. The split pearls are well matched with a white body colour and muted lustre.
