Lot Description
An open face centre seconds pocket watch by Hogg and Shaw. Hallmarked London 1886. Signed keyless wind three quarter plate movement with ratchet tooth lever escapement, split bi-metal compensation balance, overcoil hairspring and diamond end stone, numbered 24320 and engraved Kew A. White enamel dial with black Roman numeral hour markers. 18ct gold case. 58mm. 163gms. Kew Observatory certificates.

<li> Keyless wind movement is currently functioning.
<li> Movement appears in a very good state, balance wheel is intact.
<li> Screws to the movement show tiny scuffs and the blue finish is coming off in various places.
<li> Dial does not appear cracked.
<li> Debris is noticeable in a few places to the dial, would benefit from a clean.
<li> Dial does not show any scuffs.
<li> Minute and hour hands are slightly scuffed to the entire surface.
<li> Second hand appears in a very good state with some tiny scuffs to the centre only.
<li> Glass shows some noticeable scratches to the entire surface as a result of general wear, there are also some tiny chips to the edges noticeable only under closer inspection.
<li> Gold plating from the crow is coming off.
<li> Case shows noticeable scratches to the entire surface, majority appears superficial only and should polish out.
<li> Some deeper marks are noticeable to the sides of the case where a knife has been used to open it.
<li> This watch comes with its class A certificate with 76.2 marks from Kew Observatory where a trial took place between 17th October and 30th November 1887. <p>
