Lot 297

Lot Description

An early nineteenth century French silver twin-handled bowl and cover of circular form, with formalised leaf borders and the removable lid surmounted with the figure of a cherub, with two further cherubs to the handles. French standard and guarantee marks to both parts (1819-1838), also a maker's mark to the lid for Charles-Marie Guidee (Paris, from 1801). Rim diameter of bowl measures 5 1/8 inches (13 cm), weight 11.03 ozt (343 grams).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The bowl displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Would benefit from a clean and polish. Some surface dints and bumps. Several heavier scratches and nicks. Possible repair around the base of one of the handles. Rim very slightly misshapen but the lid still fits quite well. Some heavier scuffs and contact marks to the underside. Hallmarks rubbed in places but still legible.
