Lot 338

Lot Description

A combination miniature mandolin and scent bottle, decorated with various figurative and putti scenes within foliate scroll borders, with realistic strings and tuning keys and a hinge opening to the head section. Struck with a single sword mark (likely Dutch). Maximum length measuring 7 5/8 inches (19.5 cm), gross weight 3.97 ozt (123.6 grams).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The item displays general wear including surface scratches, marks and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Heavier spots or patches of tarnishing to some areas. Some flattening or slight loss of surface detail or definition to the decoration. The strings can be played. On opening the hinged end, there appears to be a lid with cork stopper but this is jammed in place and cannot be easily pulled out. The only mark appears to be the single sword mark.
