A late 19th century garnet brooch. Designed as a cushion-shape garnet stylised heart, with openwork bar detail. Length 2.7cms. Total weight 3gms.

Condition Report

Overall condition fair. Some surface wear in keeping with age. Significant soft solder repairs to the reverse, evidence of alteration. Replacement base metal brooch fitting and pin. Garnets vary slightly in hue, closed-back settings. Brownish-red to orangish-brown and greyish-purple, dull to slightly dark colour saturation. Fairly good clarity with typical inclusions.
