Lot Description

A late 19th to early 20th century commemorative coin, garnet and paste brooch. The Austrian Corona commemorative coin, dated 1908, within a red garnet and paste foliate surround. Length 3.9cms.

Overall condition fair. Some surface wear in keeping with age. Composite piece, coin and surround possibly put together. Minimal soft solder joints between the coin mount and surround. Surround has wear to the yellow metal surface, particularly to the reverse. Replacement pin. One side of coin reads 'FRANC.IOS.I.D.G.IMP.AVSTR.REX BOH.GAL.ILL.ETC.ETAP.REX HVNG.'. The other reads 'DVODECIM LVSTRIS GLORIOSE PERACTIS / 1848 / 1908 / FJ1 / 1 COR. '. Total weight 8.6gms.
