Lot Description
A late 19th century gold and silver sapphire and diamond brooch. The oval-shape sapphire, within old-cut diamond halo, to the similarly-cut diamond line sides. Accompanied by report number 5775-1535, dated 3rd March 2015, from the Gemmological Certification Services, stating the sapphire is approximately 7cts, natural Sri Lanka sapphire with no indications of heating. Estimated total diamond weight 2.30cts, J-L colour, SI1-P1 clarity. Length 4.2cms. Weight 8.8gms.

Condition Report
<li>Overall condition good. Surface scratches and discolouration in keeping with general age and wear.

<li>The sapphire is a bright mid blue hue, well saturated, with typical inclusions. Sapphire dimensions: 11 by 8 by 8.9mms.
<li>Stone in good to fair condition with light surface scratches, chips and nibbles off-centre, and abrasion to the facet edges.
<li>One visible chip to the edge of the stone next to one of the claws. Setting restrictions obstruct full view of stone.
<li>The diamonds are bright, lively and fairly well matched.
<li>Light nicks and chips can be seen to some. Fine feathers and fractures can be seen under magnification, some are surface reaching.
<li>Assessed within the limits of the mount.
