Lot Description

A late 19th century gold and silver emerald, diamond and split pearl pendant. The circular-shape emerald, weighing 5.61cts, within a split pearl quatrefoil and old-cut diamond surround, to the pearl drop, suspended from a later rope-link chain. Accompanied by report number 06859, dated 11th December 2012, from The Gem & Pearl Laboratory stating the emerald is of Colombian origin with moderate clarity enhancement. Pearl untested. Estimated total diamond weight 0.35ct. Length of pendant 3.9cms. Length of chain 43cms. Weight 11.2gms.

<li>Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.

<li>The pendant has been put together from various different late 19th century components, with replacement gems and diamonds. The central setting is damaged where claws have broken off. The chain is modern with a period clasp, visible scuffs to barrel clasp. There are visible join lines and solder in places.

<li>The emerald is yellowish green, moderate to poor saturation, with profuse inclusions that affect the passage of light through the stone. Many inclusions are surface reaching possibly affecting the durability of the emerald.

<li>Diamonds bright and well matched, there are some surface reaching inclusions which appear as chips, Individual size and setting prevents accurate colour/clarity grade assessment.

<li>Split pearls well matched.

<li>There some areas of damage to the nacre of the pearl, the pearl has white body colour with an areas of yellowing. Pearl untested.
