Lot Description
A late 19th century silver and gold, diamond and gem-set butterfly brooch. The split pearl body and ruby eyes, to the sapphire and ruby-edged diamond point openwork wings. Length 3.7cms. Weight 9.3gms.

<li>Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
<li>Three noticeable replacement gems.
<li>Later safety chain, slight discolouration at join.
<li>Diamonds relatively bright.<p>
<li>Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment. Varying inclusions.<p>
<li>Split pearls show varying discolouration, some probable replacements.
<li>Rubies are a moderately well matched moderately vibrant slightly purplish red hue. The sapphires are a well matched light medium blue hue. Typical inclusions. The sapphires with moderate colour zoning.<p>
<li>Stones in good condition with minor abrasions.<p>
