Lot Description

A George III silver tankard by Hester Bateman, the tapering body with later initial engraving, applied girdle, domed hinged cover with openwork thumb-piece, scratch initial engraving to the scrolling handle with heart shaped terminal. Hallmarked Hester Bateman, London 1782. Height measuring 7 1/2 inches (19 cm), weight 24.8 ozt (773 grams).


Provenance; Sotheby & Co 22nd October 1970, Lot 133. Complete with Sotheby & Co catalogue of Highly Important English and Foreign Silver and Plate, 22nd October 1970.
