A George III silver tankard by Hester Bateman, the tapering body with later initial engraving, applied girdle, domed hinged cover with openwork thumb-piece, scratch initial engraving to the scrolling handle with heart shaped terminal. Hallmarked Hester Bateman, London 1782. Height measuring 7 1/2 inches (19 cm), weight 24.8 ozt (773 grams).

The lot displays general scratches, marks wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Three small holes drilled to the foot of the base. Hallmarks to the lid and body are clear and legible.
