Lot 414

Lot Description

A silver plated ice water pitcher and serving set by Reed & Barton, comprising a large ceramic lined, tilting pitcher and two goblets on a square form stand with corner paw feet and having a pierced swing handle and side brackets, decorated throughout with floral and foliate panels interspersed with portraits of various breeds of dogs, the hinged pitcher lid surmounted with a figural finial modelled as a polar bear eating a fish. Impressed makers mark. Maximum height including stand measures 18 1/2 inches (47 cm).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The set displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Minor surface dints and bumps. When the pitcher is on the stand, it appears to be closer to one side and one of the side brackets also appears to lean in more. The tilting mechanism does appear to work some of the time but will require attention as the handle also appears a little out of shape and will probably need tightening.
