Lot Description

An American silver three piece bachelor coffee  set, comprising coffee pot, twin-handled sugar bowl and cream jug, each of plain octagonal sided form with reeded rim and conforming decoration to the footed base, the coffee pot having a stained wood handle and a domed, hinged lid. Pictorial maker's mark for Meriden Brittania Co. (Connecticut), also marked 'sterling'. Maximum height of coffee pot including finial measures 8 inches (20.2 cm), gross weight 19.13 ozt (595 grams).

The coffee set appears in fairly good overall condition, displaying general surface scratches, marks and wear commensurate with the age and use. Some quite heavy tarnishing is visible and all the pieces would benefit from a clean and polish. Some minor dints. A couple of splits starting to appear around the spout. Maker's mark is clearly legible.
