Lot 292
Lot Description
ROLEX - a gentleman's Oyster bracelet watch. Circa 1952. Stainless steel case. Reference 6082, serial 810053. Signed manual wind calibre 710. Slivered dial with arrow head hour markers. Fitted to a signed stainless steel Oyster bracelet with Oysterclasp. 33mm.
The ‘Super Oyster’ crown was briefly fitted to Oyster watches between 1951 and 1953. Designed to assist those owners who forgot to screw the crown back down again it relied on the precise fit of the crown stem and tube alongside rubber gaskets to keep water out. Unfortunately wear on the crown tube caused leaks and the crown was abandoned. Many Oyster watches had their crown changed to the screw-down type at service so finding them still in place is unusual.
