Lot Description

A set of mid 19th century gold, rock crystal, ruby and enamel jewellery. The brooch designed as a ruby and openwork lattice atop a circular-shape rock crystal, with black enamel ringed surround, suspending fancy-link swags and similarly-set fringe, with matching ear pendants. French assay marks. Length of brooch 7.4cms. Length of ear pendants 5.7cms. Weight 27.1gms. With fitted case.

<li>Overall condition good. Minor surface scratches/wear in keeping with general age and wear.

<li>Ear pendants have been previously slightly adapted, they no longer quite fit within their depressions within the case.

<li>Minor discolouration.

<li>Few claws slightly bent to central gem of brooch.

<li>Slight wear to the black enamel.

<li>Rubies a fairly well matched medium slightly purplish red hue, slight variation in saturation and tone, with fair to good clarity and typical inclusions.<p>

<li>Rubies in good condition with minor abrasions. One faceted rock crystal bead with small chips.<p>

<li>Hook fittings for pierced ears.

<li>Case shows moderate wear. Gilt letters to interior silk 'LIOR Succ'r de LAPAR, 2 Rue de la Paix, PARIS'.
