Lot Description

An early 20th century 9ct gold hardstone cameo and gem-set brooch. The oval-shape hardstone, carved to depict a woman in flowing robes, within a seed pearl, diamond and ruby trefoil surround. Estimated total diamond weight 0.30ct. Length 3.2cms. Weight 9.3gms.

<li>Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches and slight discolouration in keeping with general age and wear.

<li>Hardstone with minor nicks and slight abrasion. Scratched initials to the back of the cameo. Slight areas of yellow banding to the highlighted areas, notably to her foreleg.

<li>Possible replacement gems, wear to some mounts.


<li>Diamonds well matched.



<li>Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.<p>

<li>Seed pearls untested for natural origin.

<li>Seed pearls fairly well matched, with slight hue and lustre differences.


<li>Rubies a well matched deep medium slightly purplish red hue, well saturated, with good to fair clarity and typical inclusions.<p>

<li>Stones in good condition with minor abrasions.<p>
