Lot 257

Lot Description

A 1920's silver christening mug of plain and slightly tapering form, with moulded rims and engraved monogram to one side, hallmarked Wilson & Sharp, Birmingham 1923, height measuring 3 1/8 inches (8 cm). Together with a further example also of plain tapering form, hallmarked James Deakin & Sons, Sheffield, date letter illegible, height measuring 2 5/8 inches (6.7 cm). Weight 9.6 ozt (298.6 grams). (2).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

Both mugs display some general wear including surface scratches and marks. Quite heavy tarnishing is visible, especially to the Sheffield mug, however both would benefit from a clean and polish. The Sheffield example also displays some slight surface dints and knocks to rims and the hallmarks are quite rubbed and distorted and only partly legible. The hallmarks to the 1920's mug are clear and legible.
