Lot 517

Lot Description

An Egyptian lidded casket of ovoid form with floral drop handles, ornately embossed throughout with flowers, scrolling foliage and leaf borders, the hinged lid having a domed centre surmounted with birds and flowers. Egyptian Assay marks including the 'Lotus Flower' National mark. Maximum length measures 7 1/8 inches (18 cm), weight 21.27 ozt (661.6 grams).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The casket displays some general wear including surface scratches and other contact marks. It is heavily tarnished throughout and would benefit from a clean and polish. Remnants of a sticker mark to the underside, also residues of polish to some areas. The hinges appear in working order, however the lid does not close properly so that a small gap remains when in the closed position. The Assay marks are clear and legible, full marks struck to lid and base and part marks to other areas.
