A 19th century ivory 'Barleycorn' type chess set, evolved from 'Captain Cook' pattern of c.1770, red-stained and natural, the kings and queens each of five ring knops on balustroid stem, the kings 3.3" (8.5cm) high, in cedar box with sliding cover.
