Lot Description

A George III silver tankard, the slightly tapering form decorated with ribbed banding enclosing an engraved monogram, the flat hinged lid with conforming decoration and pierced thumb rest. Hallmarked Solomon Hougham, London 1799. Maximum height measures 7 1/4 inches (18.5 cm), weight 24.74 ozt (769.6 grams).

The tankard appears in fairly good overall condition, displaying some general wear, surface scratches and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. A couple of minor surface dints. Hinged lid appears in good working order, possible replacement rivet pin. The hallmarks are clear and legible, also clear hallmarks to lid.
