Lot Description

An early twentieth century silver tea caddy of oval form, decorated with a trailing leaf border above ribbon tied swag and pendant motifs and having an engraved monogram to the removable lid. Hallmarked Henry Matthews, Birmingham 1912. Maximum height measures 4 inches (10 cm), weight 3.56 ozt (111 grams).

The caddy displays some general wear, surface scratches, marks and tarnishing in keeping with the general age and usage. Would benefit from a clean and polish. Some dints and bumps and heaver wear around edges. Patch of black just below leaf border on one side, likely solder repair. The hallmarks are quite rubbed and partly distorted, clear part hallmarks to lid.
